Meet the team

PETER (The Boss??)

Peter has been in the horticultural industry for over 45 years, he left school at 15 and went to horticultural college for 3 years followed by a further two years as a working student in Holland.  Peter is fluent in Dutch and has spent many years working for Dutch and German growers and plant breeders.  He has been a grower for over 30 years, the last 13 of which have been developing Gledstone Gardens into a thriving retail plant nursery along with his wife Mandy.

MANDY (The Real Boss?!?!)

Mandy has been involved with plants for 20 years since meeting Peter. Despite her background being in the catering industry she has become a knowledgeable plants woman and a key part of the team. Her role is customer support, planning advice and helping those who know what they want but don’t know where to start. Alongside this her other key functions are making customers hanging baskets and tubs, and plant propagation.

GAVIN

Gavin first came to Gledstone Gardens as a part time seasonal worker in early 2011. It quickly became obvious that he had a liking for plants and gardening. In December 2011 he became a full time member of the team starting a 14 month apprenticeship in conjunction with Craven College. Since successfully completing his apprenticeship Gavin has grown into a key member of the team and is now capable of managing the day to day running of the business in the absence of Peter and Mandy

Samantha (The Daughter)

Sammy has grown up at Gledstone Gardens and has spent most of her childhood converting any spare piece of ground into a show jumping arena. A very keen and competitive show jumper herself, she has obtained a Gledstone Gardens degree in work avoidance.

Sco0by (Mouse patrol)

Scooby is in charge of rodent extermination, and keeping the dogs in order.

Jess

Even our pets are employed.

Dogs

Although we are dog lovers, we do not allow four legged friends on the nursery as it leads to our dogs scent marking on plants.

We trust this does not cause offence.
